Search and Account pages

I just made a bunch of updates to the Wikidentity production servers.

First, I’ve ported the search to the webpage, allowing you to search for people without using the client. It’s still pretty rudimentary, but it’s there.

Second, I’ve added a MyAccount section. You can view all of your submissions to Wikidentity, remove submissions, and flag domains. If you’re a FireFox user, there’s also a nifty graph (a la scruffy) that shows your average submission count. More user tools to come…

Remember, it’s all BETA, so let me know if you see any bugs.

Thank you for the updates to the Account pages. The added ability in the account pages to delete a hCard that has been picked up from my development server is much appreciated.

I could use a bit of an explanation on how the domain labeling works. I am not sure I understand the relationship between the “private” and “blocked” states.

So, any domain or URL partial which is considered “blocked” wont be indexed at all. In fact, if you add a domain to your block list, any of your submissions that match the domains will be deleted.

On the other hand, private domains will be submitted and indexed, but the data is only visible the user who submitted the data. Private domains are designed for pages that you have to log into to view, since the client effectively assumes any privileges that the browser window has.

The public / private process should get a boost in the near future. I am writing a bot that fetches the HTML for each submission URL and compares it against the submission. If the hCard is found in the data, that page can be considered public, otherwise it will be marked as private. I’ll probably give the user the ability to make individual cards public too.
